Every breeder on getabreeder is checked by a person on our team before their first puppy goes live. Here is exactly what we check, and what a badge doesn’t promise.
ID-VerifiedThe minimum for every breeder listed here
What every listed breeder has passed
Their photo IDA person on our team checked a government photo ID against the name on the account.
Their registration or licenceWe checked their kennel club registration or state or local kennel licence. Some good small programs have neither, because their state doesn’t license at their size or their breed isn’t registered by a kennel club. For those, a reviewer looked at why.
Where the dogs liveWe confirmed the address with a recent document, like a utility bill or lease.
And they signed our commitments:
“I only list puppies I bred and raised. I don’t resell puppies from other breeders.”
“Puppies go home at 8 weeks old or older, with vet records.”
“I follow the licensing and animal-welfare laws where I breed.”
“I’ll keep messages and payments for getabreeder families on getabreeder.”

Everything in ID-Verified, plus
Health testing for the parentsWe reviewed health test results for the breeding dogs, like OFA, PennHIP or Embark, and checked them on the public registry where the results are listed there.
A vet who knows the programThe breeder gave us a vet reference we can contact.
Where puppies are raisedWe reviewed photos of where the adults live and where puppies are born and raised, with a video walkthrough when our team asked for one.
Founding breeder. One of the first 30 programs approved on getabreeder. It says nothing extra about quality beyond the verification badge.
Founding breeder
One of the first 30 programs approved on getabreeder. It’s about when a program joined, not how good it is: it says nothing beyond the verification badge shown next to it.
What a badge does not mean
A badge tells you who you’re dealing with. It isn’t a promise about a particular puppy, so keep asking questions.
A guarantee of any puppy’s health, temperament or lifespan.
An in-person visit. We review documents, photos and video, and visit only where a breeder’s page says we did.
A check of every litter. Verification is about the program, as it was when we approved it.
Health clearance for every condition. Health testing covers the tests shown, on the dogs shown. It isn’t a vet exam of the puppy.
A registry lookup for every document. We check registries that have a public search. Everything else is reviewed as the breeder sent it.
Your payment is held until pickup
You pay on getabreeder, through Stripe. Stripe holds the money until your puppy is home; we never hold it. If something is wrong, opening a dispute pauses the payment while our team looks into it.
Reviews come from real sales
Only a family who bought a puppy through getabreeder can review that breeder, once the puppy is home.
Something doesn’t look right?
See something wrong on a listing or a breeder’s page? Use “Report a concern” at the bottom of the puppy’s page or on the breeder’s profile, and a person on our team will look at it. If you’ve paid through getabreeder, report a problem from your purchase page instead: the payment is paused and we respond within 48 hours.
