Privacy Policy
Last updated October 14, 2026
This explains what information getabreeder collects, why, who it’s shared with, and how you can see or delete yours. It applies to the getabreeder website, app, emails and notifications. Using getabreeder also means agreeing to our Terms of Service.
The short version
- We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.
- Your phone and email stay private until a puppy is paid for in full.
- Breeders’ ID and proof of address are deleted 30 days after we decide.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see full card or bank numbers.
- No tracking or advertising cookies.
- Email getabreeder@gmail.com to get a copy of your information or delete it.
This summary helps you find your way. The full text below is what applies.
1. What we collect
What you give us
- Your account: your name, email, phone number and password (stored only as a scrambled hash we can’t read). Families also give a zip code; breeders give a business name, city and state.
- What you post: listings, photos, videos, parent dog details and health results, your program’s page, reviews, and the messages you send.
- Breeder verification: your legal name, photo ID, street address and proof of address, licenses and registrations, health test results, a vet reference, and photos or video of where your dogs live.
- Sales: the puppy, price, deposit, dates, refund requests, and anything sent in a dispute.
- The early-access list: your email, the breed you want and your state or zip code.
- What you choose to save: saved puppies, search alerts, waitlists, notification settings and saved replies.
What we collect automatically
- Your IP address and browser type, used to keep the site secure, limit abuse such as spam sign-ups, and count puppy page views. For view counts, the address is turned into a one-way code that changes every day, so we can’t tell who viewed a page.
- Notification details: if you turn on notifications, the address your browser gives us to send them to that device.
- Cookies and similar storage, described in Cookies below.
What we get from others
- Stripe tells us whether a payment, refund or payout went through and whether a breeder’s payout account is ready. We never see full card or bank account numbers, or the tax details breeders give Stripe.
- Registries, licensing offices and vets a breeder lists may confirm what the breeder told us.
2. How we use it
- To run getabreeder: your account, listings, messages, payments, refunds, disputes and reviews.
- To verify breeders, and to keep families, breeders and dogs safe, including finding scams, brokers and fake accounts.
- To keep conversations on getabreeder: we automatically check messages, listings and the text in photos, and remove phone numbers, email addresses, links and requests to pay another way. Photos are read on our own servers, not by an outside service, and the location data stored in a photo is removed when it’s uploaded to a chat.
- To show families puppies near them, using the zip code they give us.
- To send you emails and notifications you’ve asked for, or that are about your account, a sale or a message.
- To answer you when you contact us, and to tell you about changes to getabreeder or these policies.
- To follow the law, enforce our terms, and protect our rights and other people’s.
3. Who can see what
- Everyone can see a breeder’s public page and listings: program name, city and state, verification tier, photos, parent dogs, health results and reviews. Reviews show the family’s first name and last initial.
- The person you’re talking to sees your name and your messages. Phone numbers and email addresses are shared between a family and a breeder only once a puppy is paid for in full, so you can arrange pickup.
- Breeders don’t see a family’s zip code. Families don’t see a breeder’s street address, ID or documents.
- Our team sees what it needs to: verification documents can be opened only by our Trust & Safety reviewers, and every time one is opened it’s recorded.
5. Breeder verification documents
- We use them only to confirm who you are and how your program runs. Never for advertising.
- They’re stored encrypted in private storage, and never shown on your public page.
- Your ID and proof of address are deleted 30 days after we decide on your request. Other documents are deleted 365 days after. A request you started but never sent is deleted after 30 days. We keep a record that the documents were reviewed and what we decided.
- You can ask us to delete your documents at any time. If your review isn’t finished, that ends the request.
6. How long we keep things
We keep your information while you have an account, and delete or anonymize it when it’s no longer needed, except:
- records of sales, payments, refunds and disputes, which we keep for 7 years for tax, accounting and legal reasons;
- verification documents, which follow the schedule above;
- messages in a conversation, which stay visible to the other person;
- information we need to keep because of a dispute, a legal claim or the law; and
- backups, which are overwritten on a regular cycle.
Early-access list details are used only to tell you when getabreeder opens to families, and, as totals that never name anyone, to show breeders how many families are waiting near them. Email getabreeder@gmail.com any time to be taken off the list.
7. Your choices and rights
- You can change your account details, notification settings and search alerts in your dashboard.
- Every email that isn’t about a sale or your account has a link to change or stop those emails.
- You can turn notifications off in your dashboard or your browser’s settings.
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it and your account, by emailing getabreeder@gmail.com. We’ll answer within 30 days, and won’t treat you differently for asking. We may need to confirm it’s you first, and some information may need to be kept for the reasons above. If you live in a state with its own privacy law, such as California, Texas, Colorado or Virginia, you also have the rights that law gives you, including to appeal our answer by replying to it. You can use an authorized agent to make a request.
9. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls in the database itself, and by giving our team only the access it needs. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
10. Children
getabreeder is for adults. You must be 18 to create an account, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email getabreeder@gmail.com and we’ll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change matters, such as using your information in a new way, we’ll tell you by email or on getabreeder before it applies.
