Terms of Service
Last updated October 14, 2026
These are the rules for using getabreeder. We’ve tried to write them the way we’d explain them to you in person. Please read them, and email us if anything is unclear.
Please read the arbitration section: it says disputes between you and getabreeder are settled by individual arbitration instead of in court or a class action, unless you opt out within 30 days.
The short version
- getabreeder is a marketplace. Breeders sell their own puppies; we check breeders, host the conversation and run payments and disputes.
- A verification badge tells you who you’re dealing with. It isn’t a guarantee about any puppy.
- Your payment sits in the breeder’s Stripe account until your puppy is home. We never hold your money.
- Every fee and the listing’s refund policy are shown before you pay.
- Keep messages and payments on getabreeder. That’s what our dispute process covers.
- Families and breeders both get written rights: fair disputes, honest reviews, private contact details and clear fees.
- Dogs are living animals. Meetings and pickups happen between you and the other person, so please read the safety section.
- Disputes with getabreeder go to individual arbitration, not court or class actions. You can opt out within 30 days of signing up.
- Texas law applies, and you can always email us first. Sections marked “Important” limit what you can claim from us.
This summary helps you find your way. The full text below is what applies.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
getabreeder is run by Doxufy LLC, doing business as getabreeder, a Texas limited liability company at 5900 Balcones Drive, Ste 100, Austin, TX 78731. In these terms, “getabreeder”, “we” and “us” mean Doxufy LLC. “You” means the person using getabreeder. A “family” is someone looking for or buying a puppy, and a “breeder” is someone listing puppies.
These terms apply whenever you use getabreeder, including the website, the app you can add to your home screen, our emails and our notifications. Breeders also agree to the Breeder Agreement, which adds to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information.
By creating an account, starting a sale or otherwise using getabreeder, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use getabreeder.
2. What getabreeder is, and what it isn’t
getabreeder is a marketplace. We check breeders before they can list, give families and breeders a place to talk, and run the payment and dispute process for sales made here.
We don’t breed, own, keep, sell or ship any dog. Every puppy is offered and sold by the breeder who lists it. The sale is between the family and the breeder, and the breeder is the seller. The breeder is responsible for the puppy, its health, the accuracy of the listing, any health guarantee or contract they offer, and following the laws that apply to them.
We aren’t a party to the sale contract between a family and a breeder, except for the parts of these terms about how payments, refunds and disputes work on getabreeder. Nothing on getabreeder is veterinary advice: talk to a veterinarian about a puppy’s health.
3. What families and breeders can count on
A sale only works when both sides are treated fairly. Whatever else these terms say, these are the promises we make to each of you.
Families
- Every breeder is reviewed by a person on our team before their first listing goes live.
- You see the puppy’s price, every fee and the listing’s written refund policy before you pay anything.
- Your payment can’t reach the breeder’s bank until your puppy is home, and reporting a problem before then keeps it where it is.
- In a dispute, you see everything the breeder sends, you get a written decision with reasons, and you can appeal it.
- You can leave an honest review of a breeder you bought from, and it won’t be removed for being negative.
- Your phone, email and zip code stay private until a puppy is paid for in full.
- Your rights under the law stay yours, including asking your card company about a charge and any state puppy purchase law.
Breeders
- You see your fee before every sale, and it never changes once a sale has started. Fee changes come with 30 days’ notice.
- Once a family has paid, they get a refund on getabreeder only if you agree, the listing’s refund policy allows it, or we decide a dispute on what both of you sent. You can appeal any decision.
- If a family disputes a charge with their card company, we help you respond with the sale’s records.
- Payments release on fixed rules, including when a family never confirms pickup.
- Your street address, ID and documents are never shown on your public page.
- Reviews come only from families who actually bought from you, and fake or paid-for reviews are removed.
- You choose who you sell to, and can decline any family for any reason the law allows.
- You keep ownership of your photos and writing.
Everyone
- We tell you the reason for any action we take on your account or listing, and you can ask us to look again.
- We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.
- A change to these terms never applies to a sale that has already started.
- If you have a dispute with getabreeder, we pay most arbitration costs, and you can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of signing up.
4. Breeder verification and its limits
A person on our team reviews every breeder before their first listing goes live. How we verify breeders explains exactly what each badge checks. A badge means we reviewed the documents, photos and information the breeder gave us at the time we approved them.
Verification is not a guarantee. It doesn’t promise any puppy’s health, temperament, ancestry or lifespan, it isn’t an inspection of every litter, and we visit a breeder in person only where their page says we did. Breeders can change after we approve them. Keep asking questions, ask for records, and meet the breeder and the puppy when you can.
5. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and live in the United States to create an account.
- Give us true and current information, and keep it up to date. One person per account, and only one account per person unless we agree otherwise.
- Keep your password private. You’re responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using it.
6. Agreeing and signing electronically
When you tick a box or press a button that says you agree, such as at signup, when starting a sale or when connecting a payout account, that is your electronic signature, and it’s as binding as signing on paper. We record when you agreed and to which version.
You agree to receive these terms, notices, receipts and other records electronically, by email or on getabreeder, and that they count as being “in writing”. You can save or print any page, and you can ask for a copy of anything you agreed to by emailing us. You can withdraw this consent by closing your account, but getabreeder can’t be used without it.
7. Messages and contact details
Families and breeders talk in their getabreeder inbox. Phone numbers and email addresses stay private until a puppy is paid for in full through getabreeder, when each side can see the other’s so they can arrange pickup.
Our payment hold and dispute process only cover sales made on getabreeder. To keep people from being steered off the site, which is how most puppy scams start, phone numbers, email addresses, links, social media handles and requests to pay another way are removed automatically from messages, listings and the text in photos. You agree not to try to get around this.
We may review messages when someone reports a problem, during a dispute, to stop fraud or abuse, or when the law requires it.
8. Fees
Every fee is shown before anyone pays. There are two on each sale:
- The family’s service fee, a flat amount added on top of the puppy’s price, based on that price: Under $1,000, $50; $1,000 to $1,999, $100; $2,000 to $2,999, $150; $3,000 to $3,999, $200; $4,000 and up, $250. It’s collected in the same proportion as the deposit and the balance.
- The breeder fee, 6% of the puppy’s price, taken from the breeder’s payout. Founding breeders may pay less for a time, as set out in the Breeder Agreement.
Partner Plus, an optional monthly plan for breeders, is described in the Breeder Agreement. We may change our fees in the future. A change never applies to a sale that has already started, and we’ll tell you before it takes effect.
9. How payments work
Payments are processed by Stripe, a licensed payment company. When a family pays a deposit or balance, the money goes to the breeder’s own Stripe account, where it can’t be paid out to the breeder’s bank until the puppy is home. getabreeder never holds your money. We’re not a bank or an escrow service. We set when a payment is released, under these rules:
- 3 days after the family confirms they have the puppy, if no problem has been reported; or
- 7 days after the breeder marks the puppy as gone home, if the family hasn’t confirmed or reported a problem by then.
Reporting a problem before the payment is released keeps it where it is while we look into it. Card and bank details go straight to Stripe, and we never see your full card number. Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy also apply to payments.
Pay for a getabreeder puppy only on getabreeder. If a breeder asks you to pay another way, don’t, and please report it. We can’t help with money paid outside getabreeder.
10. Deposits, cancellations and refunds
The breeder sets the deposit, between 5% and 50% of the price. Each listing has one of these written refund policies, shown before you pay and fixed once a deposit is paid:
- Non-refundable, except if breeder cancels. The deposit secures the puppy and is non-refundable if the buyer changes their mind or fails a screening step. Refunded if the breeder cancels the sale or cannot deliver a healthy puppy as described.
- Refundable within 48 hours. Refundable if requested within 48 hours of the deposit being paid. After that window, non-refundable except if the breeder cancels.
- Refundable until pickup/delivery. Refundable any time before the puppy is picked up or delivered. Non-refundable once the transaction is marked delivered.
A family and breeder can also agree to cancel and refund a sale on getabreeder at any time. If you and the breeder agree to cancel, you're refunded what you paid for the puppy. The service fee isn't refundable. The breeder returns what they received and pays no breeder fee on a cancelled sale.
When we decide a dispute in the family’s favor, the refund includes the family’s service fee. Refunds go back to the card or bank account that paid, and can take several business days to arrive.
Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you, including the right to ask your card company about a charge or rights under a state’s puppy purchase laws.
11. When something goes wrong with a sale
If there’s a problem with a puppy you paid for here, report it from your purchase page before the payment is released. Then:
- The payment stays in the breeder’s Stripe account and can’t be released while the dispute is open.
- Both sides can see everything either of them sends: messages, photos and vet records.
- We respond within 48 hours.
- We decide in writing: a full or partial refund, a release to the breeder, or no payment action, with our reasons.
- Either side can appeal within 7 days of a decision.
We decide what happens to payments made on getabreeder. We don’t decide anything else between a family and a breeder, and our decision doesn’t stop either of you from taking other legal steps against the other.
12. Staying safe when you meet
Visits, meet-ups and pickups happen off getabreeder, between the people involved. Some sensible steps for both sides:
- Talk on getabreeder first, and only meet once you’re comfortable. Tell someone where you’re going, or bring them.
- Breeders: you don’t have to share your home address until you’re ready. A public place works for a first meeting.
- Families: follow the breeder’s rules for visits, such as hand washing or no visits from homes with a sick dog, to protect the puppies.
- Never pay in cash or by another app at pickup for a sale that started here.
- Have a vet examine the puppy within a few days of bringing them home, and keep the records the breeder gives you.
- If anyone makes you feel unsafe, leave, and call 911 in an emergency. Then tell us.
Important: please read this section
13. Dogs are living animals
Buying, visiting or raising a dog has risks that no breeder, vet or marketplace can remove. A puppy can get sick, carry parasites or infections that can spread to people and other pets, bite or scratch, or develop health or behavior problems later, even from an excellent breeder.
You accept those risks when you visit a breeder, meet a family, or buy or raise a dog. getabreeder doesn’t own, handle or examine any dog, isn’t present at visits or pickups, and isn’t responsible for injury, illness or loss caused by a dog or by a person you meet through getabreeder. Your rights against the breeder or family, under their guarantee or the law, are not affected.
14. Reviews
Only a family who bought a puppy through getabreeder can review that breeder, after the puppy is home. Reviews must:
- be about your own, real experience with that breeder and puppy;
- be honest, and not include anything you know is false;
- leave out other people’s personal information, threats, hate and profanity aimed at people; and
- not be paid for. Nobody may offer or take money, discounts or anything else for a review, or for changing or removing one.
We don’t remove a review because it’s negative, and we don’t let breeders pick which reviews show. We may remove a review that breaks these rules, and say why. Breeders can’t ask families to give up the right to leave an honest review, in a sale contract or anywhere else.
15. Rules for everyone
When you use getabreeder, you agree not to:
- list a puppy you didn’t breed and raise, or act as a broker or reseller;
- let a puppy go home younger than 8 weeks, or younger than the law where you are allows;
- post anything false or misleading, including photos, prices, health results or registration papers;
- ask for or make payment outside getabreeder for a sale that started here, or try to avoid our fees;
- scam, threaten, harass or discriminate against anyone;
- break any law, including animal welfare, licensing, consumer protection and tax laws;
- use someone else’s account or pretend to be someone you’re not;
- copy or collect information from getabreeder with bots or scrapers, or interfere with how it works; or
- post anything you don’t have the right to post.
Use “Report a concern” on a puppy’s page or a breeder’s page, or email us about anything else, and a person on our team will look at it.
16. What we watch for, and when we contact the authorities
We review breeders before they list, check messages and listings automatically, and look at every report. But we can’t review everything people post, and we’re not obliged to. What breeders and families post is their responsibility, not ours, and showing it on getabreeder isn’t an endorsement.
We may share information with the police, animal control, animal welfare or consumer protection agencies, or a payment company, if we believe there’s fraud, animal cruelty or neglect, a threat to someone’s safety, or that the law requires it.
17. What you post
You keep ownership of the photos, videos, writing and documents you put on getabreeder. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, show, copy, resize and adapt them to run getabreeder and to show what’s on it, including in our own promotion of a listing or breeder page while it’s on getabreeder. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we keep as our Privacy Policy describes, and for content already shared in messages or reviews.
You promise you have the right to post what you post. We may remove anything that breaks these terms. If you think something on getabreeder uses your work without permission, see our copyright policy.
18. Closing your account, and when we can suspend it
You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing getabreeder@gmail.com. A sale that has already started still finishes under these terms.
We may limit, suspend or close an account, or remove a listing, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law, or puts families, breeders or dogs at risk. We’ll tell you why, unless the law or someone’s safety stops us. You can ask us to look again at any account decision by emailing us.
We may change or stop parts of getabreeder. If we ever close getabreeder, we’ll give reasonable notice and let open sales finish.
Important: please read this section
19. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, getabreeder is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We make no promises beyond the ones in these terms. In particular, we don’t promise anything about any dog, breeder or family, that what people post is accurate, or that getabreeder will always be available or free of errors.
Any promise about a puppy, such as a health guarantee, comes from the breeder alone. Some states don’t allow some of these disclaimers, so they may not all apply to you.
Important: please read this section
20. Disagreements between families and breeders
A disagreement about a puppy or a sale is between the family and the breeder. We run the payment and dispute process described above, and we’ll keep every promise we make in these terms.
Beyond those promises, and to the fullest extent the law allows, you release Doxufy LLC and its owners, employees and agents from all claims, demands and damages of every kind, known and unknown, that come from a disagreement between you and another person you met through getabreeder, or from anything that happens at a visit, meeting or pickup, including claims based on our own negligence.
If you live in California, you waive California Civil Code section 1542, which says: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party.” This release doesn’t cover our fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct, or anything the law doesn’t allow to be released.
Important: please read this section
21. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, and even if a claim is based on our own negligence:
- we aren’t liable for anything a breeder, family or other person does or fails to do, including about a dog’s health, behavior or ancestry;
- we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or emotional distress, even if we were told they were possible; and
- our total liability to you for all claims about getabreeder is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.
These limits don’t apply to our fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct, or where the law doesn’t allow them. They never reduce what we must refund or release under the payment, refund and dispute rules above, which we’ll always honor.
Important: please read this section
22. Claims caused by you
To the extent the law allows, you’ll defend, indemnify and hold harmless Doxufy LLC and its owners, employees and agents from any claim, loss or cost, including reasonable legal fees, brought by someone else because of what you posted, a dog you sold, bought or brought to a meeting, or your breaking these terms or the law.
This doesn’t apply to the extent a claim was caused by our own fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct. We’ll tell you promptly about any claim, and you can take part in how it’s handled. Breeders take on more here, set out in the Breeder Agreement.
23. Governing law, and talking to us first
If you have a problem with getabreeder itself, please email us first at getabreeder@gmail.com. Most things get sorted out that way. Before either of us starts an arbitration or a court case, the one with the complaint sends the other a written notice describing it and what they want, and we both try in good faith to settle it for 60 days. Notices to us go to getabreeder@gmail.com and 5900 Balcones Drive, Ste 100, Austin, TX 78731; we’ll send ours to the email on your account.
These terms are governed by the Federal Arbitration Act, other federal law and the laws of the State of Texas, apart from its rules about which law applies. Anything that isn’t arbitrated under the next section will be decided in the state or federal courts in Travis County, Texas, or in small claims court, and you and we agree to those courts. To the extent the law allows, a claim against us must be brought within one year after it arises, or it’s permanently barred.
Disagreements between a family and a breeder aren’t covered by this section or the next. They’re between the two of you, and our dispute process for sales still applies to them.
Important: please read this section
24. Arbitration and no class actions
You and Doxufy LLC agree to resolve any dispute between us about getabreeder, these terms, the Breeder Agreement or our Privacy Policy by binding individual arbitration, not in court. This means you and we both give up the right to a judge or jury trial, and the right to bring or take part in a class action, collective action or representative action against the other.
What arbitration is
Instead of a court, a neutral arbitrator hears both sides and makes a decision that’s binding, like a judge’s. It’s usually quicker and less formal than court. The arbitrator can award you the same individual damages and relief a court could, and must follow these terms.
How it works
- The arbitration is run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, or its Commercial Arbitration Rules if you use getabreeder for a business and the consumer rules don’t apply. Its rules are at adr.org.
- It happens by video or phone, or in the county where you live, whichever you prefer. For claims under $25,000 it can be decided on written submissions alone, unless either side asks for a hearing.
- If you’re a consumer, your share of the filing fees is never more than the AAA’s consumer rules allow, and we pay the rest of the AAA’s and the arbitrator’s fees. If the arbitrator finds a claim was brought for an improper purpose or is frivolous, the AAA’s rules on fees apply instead.
- If 25 or more similar claims are brought against us, or by us, using the same or coordinated lawyers, the AAA’s Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules apply, and the claims may be heard in batches so each one is decided fairly and without needless delay.
What isn’t arbitrated
- Either of us can bring an individual claim in small claims court, if it qualifies there.
- Either of us can go to court to stop someone infringing their copyright, trademark or other intellectual property.
- Nothing here stops you from telling a government agency about a problem, or from asking your card company about a charge.
Only individual claims
Claims can only be brought by you or us individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative case. The arbitrator can’t combine more than one person’s claims, or award relief to anyone other than the individual who brought the claim, unless both sides agree. If a court decides that this paragraph can’t be enforced for a particular claim or kind of relief, that claim or relief, and only that, is decided by a court after the arbitration of everything else, and this section still applies to the rest.
If a dispute ends up in court
For any dispute that is decided in court instead of arbitration, you and we both give up the right to a jury trial, to the extent the law allows.
You can opt out
You can choose not to be bound by this arbitration section by emailing getabreeder@gmail.com within 30 days after you first agree to these terms, with your name, the email on your account and a line saying you opt out of arbitration. Opting out doesn’t change anything else about your account or these terms, and disputes would then go to the courts named above.
If we change this section
If we change this arbitration section, you can reject the change by emailing us within 30 days of it taking effect, and the version you last agreed to will keep applying to you. A change never applies to a dispute we already know about.
Questions about whether a dispute must be arbitrated are for the arbitrator, except questions about the “Only individual claims” paragraph and the mass arbitration rule, which are for a court. This section keeps applying after your account closes.
25. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If we make a change that matters, we’ll tell you by email or on getabreeder before it applies, and ask you to agree to it. A change never applies to a sale that has already started.
26. The rest
- These terms, the Breeder Agreement for breeders and the policies they link to are the whole agreement between you and us about getabreeder.
- If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, it’s limited only as far as needed, and the rest still applies.
- You and we are independent. Nothing here makes a breeder, family or anyone else our employee, agent, partner or joint venturer, and no one can make promises on our behalf.
- We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as outages at Stripe or our hosting providers, natural disasters or government action.
- Prices on getabreeder don’t include sales tax. If the law requires tax on a sale, it’s shown and added before you pay.
- Links to other sites and services, like Stripe, are governed by their own terms. We’re not responsible for them.
- If you send us ideas or suggestions, we can use them freely, without owing you anything.
- Sections that by their nature should last, such as fees owed, the license to your content, the release, disclaimers, liability limits, claims caused by you, governing law and arbitration, keep applying after your account closes.
- If we don’t enforce part of these terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can’t transfer your account or these terms to someone else. We can transfer them to a company that takes over getabreeder, and we’ll tell you if we do.
- Legal notices to us go to Doxufy LLC, doing business as getabreeder, 5900 Balcones Drive, Ste 100, Austin, TX 78731, with a copy to getabreeder@gmail.com. We’ll send notices to you at the email on your account.
